Floral Wreath Handlettered Art

I’m currently vacationing in San Diego for my cousin’s wedding and I had this idea of making something handmade as a wedding present. A few weeks back, I asked my cousin what inspirational quote she and her fiancé embodied most.  She chose the Bible passage Psalm 37:4, “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of His heart.”

Isn’t it beautiful? It’s such a great quote for the future newlyweds…and it’s their own sentimental and inspirational words to live by. I wanted to create something they can start their new home with so I got excited for the hand lettering art I was about to create. Since her wedding is floral themed, I decided to make a simple floral wreath.

Quick side note, while I tend to plan out my weekly goals and tasks, most of my creative projects are my best when done last minute. Be it a jolt of creativity or the pressure of a quick deadline to put out something beautiful, I love when it comes together beautifully.

So I created this inspirational artwork for their wedding tomorrow:

To be honest, this was my first try on a handlettered floral wreath. I actually made a second one:

Fail. While I love the wreath, I butchered the lettering. Lesson learned…do the lettering first BEFORE the wreath (or pencil it in first).

Overall, I’m happy with how it turned out. I love this handmade project. I’m excited to get it framed for the wedding tomorrow.

Ok off to sleep now. I hope you enjoyed this post. Thanks for stopping by!
